Block backup for large files

Avoid re-uploading unchanged blocks in eligible large files.

How to use it

  1. On Protection, enable block backup for large files. This feature applies only to Google Drive destinations.
  2. Set the threshold in MB. The 512 MB default is configurable; files at or above the threshold use block format.
  3. The first run uploads content blocks and a file map. Later runs read the file and compare block hashes.
  4. Existing verified blocks can be reused. Changed or new blocks are uploaded, so a complete re-upload is not always necessary.
  5. Select the file in Restore. DriveCopy downloads and verifies its blocks, then reconstructs one file on your PC.
Good to knowThe current implementation uses fixed 8 MiB blocks. Inserting data near the start can change many blocks. Keep the file map and block store together.
